2015 Cancer Atlas Overview
Explorer Cancer Atlas Although cancer research continues to occur predominantly in high income countries, many countries in the middle east and north africa have begun to substantially engage in the cancer research agenda. As with previous editions, this fourth edition of the cancer atlas is grouped into three sections namely risk factors, the burden, and taking action, with additional chapters to address timely and emerging important topics including climate change and health system resilience.
The Cancer Atlas Explore Global Cancer Data And Insights The cancer genome atlas (tcga) is a public funded project that aims to catalogue and discover major cancer causing genomic alterations to create a comprehensive “atlas” of cancer genomic profiles. Issued for the first time as both a book and an interactive web site (canceratlas.cancer.org), the report highlights the complex nature of the global cancer problem as well as strategies for governments to reduce their cancer burden. The cancer genome atlas (tcga) is defined as a publicly funded project that aims to identify major cancer causing genomic alterations and create a comprehensive atlas of cancer genome profiles to enhance cancer discovery, treatment guidelines, and prevention strategies. The cancer atlas provides an overview of the world’s changing cancer burden, presenting insights gleaned from iarc data and research into the underlying risk factors for cancer to highlight proven measures for prevention and control.

The cancer genome atlas (tcga) is a landmark cancer genomics program that sequenced and molecularly characterized over 11,000 cases of primary cancer samples. learn more about how the program transformed the cancer research community and beyond. • a variety of new programs have started or are about to start (alchemist, exceptional responders, cddp, ctsp) that center on discovering the reasons why some patients respond better than others to therapy and learn more about the molecular underpinnings on the way. Cancer research is predominantly funded and conducted in high income countries, leading to significant disparities in global cancer research, particularly in low and middle income countries (lmics). This atlas illustrates the latest available data on the cancer epidemic, showing causes, stages of development, and prevalence rates of different types of cancers by gender, income group, and region.
