2 Vietaid Vietaid’s mission is to build a strong vietnamese community and a vibrant fields corner through the following measures: promoting civic engagement and community building; developing affordable housing and commercial space; providing small business technical assistance and micro enterprise development; and offering high quality child care. Founded in 1994, vietaid is the nation’s first and only community development corporation founded and operated by vietnamese refugees and immigrants and addresses many of the daily challenges.

The vietaid project consisted of redeveloping two vacant lots in dorchester for the construction of a new 51,906 gsf, four story, wood framed, mixed use building with 41 residential apartments. Specifically, the vietaid is 1) surveying and engaging current participants on issues they care about; 2) connecting with partners allies to develop workshops and identify opportunities for engagement; and 3) training current staff and volunteers on advocacy best practices. Grateful to join @vietaid ’s annual tết celebration this afternoon! vietaid works to build a strong vietnamese community in boston and beyond. The vietnamese american initiative for development (vietaid) management team includes george huynh (executive director), ricky huynh (community engagement coordinator), and david orlinoff (interim cfo). Developed 84 units of affordable housing and 6 commercial spaces in fields corner, and currently generating a robust pipeline that will revitalize the neighborhood through mixed use development.
