My Layout Model Train Forum

My Layout Model Train Forum Was going to start with a small n gauge layout as i think that's the right scale for the space i have assigned for the project and as much as i like the look of oo gauge i'd like to fit more on to keep me "engaged" on a small board. After lots of thought, research and input from the forum i’ve arrived at what i think is a nice enough n gauge layout for starting with, and have a few questions before i commit to purchasing track and getting started. It’s my first layout, and it’s also the first module of my (vaguely) planned full layout. the layout will be in n scale and will model japanese rail. this module is approximately 2.4m by 1.2m. what you can see in the picture is the base board almost finished.

I want to start building my own layout but not too sure were to start. i have my spare room ready to go (12x6ft) and was wondering what size, shape baseboard i should go for.
