1 Service Life Model For Reinforced Concrete Exposed In A Corrosive
1 Service Life Model For Reinforced Concrete Exposed In A Corrosive In this study, a numerical framework is proposed to model the service life of reinforced concrete structures subjected to chloride induced corrosion. the model requires minimal inputs in terms of design parameters and external environmental conditions to predict the service life. This project work reviews service life prediction, and modelling of reinforced concrete structures subjected to chloride ingress. a comparative study of the four existing models is done, identifying the advantages and limitations of them followed by computer simulation of these models using matlab.
Pdf Service Life Performance Of Reinforced Concrete Structures In The present study presents a novel multi parametric model that combines the initiation and propagation phases of corrosion by combining faraday’s electrolysis principle with fick’s diffusion rule to forecast the chloride induced corrosion service life of reinforced concrete. Five reinforced concrete structures from norway exposed to either de icing salts or seawater have been investigated. This study investigates chloride induced corrosion effects on rc frames, focusing on reinforcement and concrete material deterioration over a 60 year period. Reliable estimations of the extent of corrosion and time required to reach specific safety limits are crucial for assessing the reliability of aging reinforced concrete (rc) bridges. engineers and decision makers can use these figures to plan suitable inspection and maintenance operations.

This study comprehensively examines the effects of chloride induced rebar corrosion on the service life of reinforced concrete structures. various mathematical models used to predict corrosion initiation and propagation times are analyzed in detail. This study presents a comprehensive model for predicting service life of reinforced concrete structures exposed to chloride attack. the model characterizes various stages in the process of corrosion damage: the initiation of corrosion, the initiation of cracks and critical size of cracks. User’s manual, life 365tm service life prediction model and computer program for predicting the service life and life cycle cost of reinforced concrete exposed to chlorides, version 2.2, dec. 11, 2013. Thus, this study is aimed at evaluating the model proposed by andrade to efficiently predict the chloride penetration in concrete structures. in addition, the input variables of this model, as well as the challenges in obtaining them are analyzed.
