I know to avoid cheap dollar store lighter fluid, I think it has contaminants in it. I had a can that when used in a Zippo lighter, the lighter didn't function as well, took a lot of tries to get a flame. For cleaning guitars, where do you buy lighter fluid?. You can't buy this in quarts like the "Sunnyside" brand above.
However, lighter fluid is basically the same thing or is primarily Naphtha-based, and is available in all 50 states. I use Ronsonol brand, available at any grocery store. So I can use Ronsonol safely on guitars? Is it a compound with naphtha in it?

Naphtha will not harm lacquer finishes. It is completely inert. It is also great at softening glue from stickers , velcro, etc. Equally important, do not use Goo Gone or Goof Off, or any other product containing citric acid. Anyway, I think Goo Gone used to contain Naphtha or similar chemical and it worked great, but they changed the formula several years ago, eliminating the naphtha (replaced with orange oil?), and now it hardly works at all.
