Young Writers Trinity High
Young Writers Trinity High Young writers teacher of english, ms shaw, tells us more about a young writers’ competition: “students in years 7 and 8 took part in mission: catastrophe: a competition run by young writers for students from all over the country. We are bestselling authors who know what it's like to navigate the world of writing and publishing as teenagers. we've helped hundreds of young people grow as writers, reach more people, and publish their work.
Young Writers Trinity High Young writers is a proud member of the bonacia family. young writers have promoted poetry and creative writing within schools and poetry competitions for the past 33 years. A combination of ted talk, writing workshop, town hall meeting, and poetry reading, this annual fall event creates community and builds relationships for students from all over the metroplex. A large number of year 11 students who took part in the ‘twisted tales’ writing competition have been chosen to be published in an anthology of short stories produced by the young writers charity. A number of our year 7 students are now halfway through an 8 week young writer programme led by acclaimed author, danielle jawando. the after school workshops see students collaborating, responding to fun prompts and sampling a range of written pieces.

Teacher of english, ms shaw, tells us about an exciting competition some students have been working on in their english lessons: “students in 7aco took part in the young writer’s competition ‘the beautiful truth’ in which they wrote and submitted a poem about their identity. At the end of april, 26 students travelled to downing college, university of cambridge, to attend the 2023 first story festival, where they participated in workshops led by professional writers, toured the university and met author manjeet mann. Besides becoming published authors, they’ll have the opportunity to visit the university of cambridge in late april, and one student could follow in the footsteps of sam w and eliana o and win a place on a week long writing residential in the summer.”. We had a party recently to mark the end of our first young writers programme. students, parents, author danielle jawando and representatives of the writing charity ‘first story’ came together to celebrate what has been an exceptional experience for all of us.
