Xenotoca doadrioi is a colorful and gregarious fish that is easy to keep. due to their rarity in the wild, in addition to the hobby, obtaining and breeding this fish is truly a worthwhile venture!. When several different stages of juveniles occur, fry will be be neglected, so it makes sense to add separate brought up fry to the group with a size of 2 to 2.5cm to provide these stages and get a flock breeding colony. Very often the parent fish will need conditioning with live or frozen foods for a couple of weeks to get them ready for breeding, this will add lots of proteins and fats to the water which can easily foul the breeding aquarium if they are not removed promptly. Xenotoca doadrioi or san marcos redtail splitfin is a bony fish species in the goodeid family. until 2016 it was considered to be a variant of the redtail goodeid, x. eiseni, sometimes referred to as the san marcos variant.
