Work Package 6 Eurofaang

Work Package 6 Eurofaang Work package 6 in a nutshell wp6 aims to expand capabilities with new technologies in phenotyping and genomics, and to engage with stakeholders to promote the uptake of new tools and concepts thereby advancing the breeding and management of farmed animals across europe. This proposal describes concept development and conceptualisation of a eurofaang (european functional annotation of animal genomes) infrastructure to realise the full potential of genotype to phenotype (g2p) research across species, breeds and populations of farmed animal species in europe.

Work Package 3 Eurofaang Aims to bring together infrastructures and resources in farmed animal research to provide an attractive package to be eligible as a esfri project for consideration on the roadmap with a sustainable perspective. The eurofaang ri project builds on the six h2020 projects and connects with existing infrastructures for data management and animal agriculture in the european research infrastructure landscape. The eurofaang research infrastructure project has four main objectives: creation of a common data structure and data access through supporting the faang data portal and establishing an elixir community for ‘domestic animal genomes and phenomes’. In eurofaang, the six projects have identified joint strategies to empower research, as well as for communication, dissemination and training activities. examples are the common planning and development of collaborative analyses and the coordinated organisation of training courses.
