Top Women In Transportation Leadership Appointed by president ronald reagan in 1983, elizabeth dole was the first woman to ever serve as u.s. secretary of transportation—and only the eighth in the role since the department began operating in 1967. In honor of our 45th anniversary, our edi committee is highlighting 45 female transportation pioneers, leaders and rising stars throughout the year that have made an impact, continue to make us proud, and demonstrate the inextricable link between women and the success of our industry.

For women’s history month, we are celebrating and honoring the women who made an impact on transportation history. without these women, the transportation industry wouldn’t be where it is today. The women in transport network (wit) aims to empower women across all areas of the transport sector, with a particular focus on enhancing women’s participation in mid and high skilled technical and leadership roles.
