The willard women's club was founded on november 20, 1913 at the home of molly geer now the home of geercrest farm & historical society. it was named after the small community of willard, consisting of a country store and post office in the waldo hills, east of salem.

The willamette heritage center (whc) is a private, 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization formed from the merger of the mission mill museum and the marion county historical society.
