Youth Climate Activists Driving The Movement In The Global South Youth led climate movements are underfunded worldwide, but u.s. based youth led organizations capture a disproportionate share of available resources compared with their global south counterparts. The paper recommends expanding scientific work to explore how the diverse impacts of climate change on youths, based on different geographical locations, have led to different roles for young people in adapting to climate change. Drawing on existing literature, first, we identify three key reasons for authorities to take youth involvement in climate actions seriously, namely (a) human rights and justice, (b) efficiency, and (c) legitimacy of policy actions. Through our partnership, we have distributed over $2 million and supported over 400 grantees from all corners of the world in their fight for climate justice. we’ve helped break down barriers to funding for these activists who are united by their need and passion to make the world a better place.
