Young Mary Bridgewater Historical Society The old bridgewater historical society was founded in 1894 for the purposes of collecting, preserving, and publishing the colonial history of the original bridgewater settlement an area that today is comprised of east bridgewater, west bridgewater, bridgewater, and brockton. Construction of the building began in approximately the spring of 1662, and it was originally occupied by bridgewater's first permanent minister, the young rev. james keith from scotland. the home was donated to the society on november 20,1961 by howard and jessie anderson. With the recent passing of mary johnson allen, a long time trustee and president of the bridgewater historical society, a brief retrospective on her life, her contributions to bridgewater and her love of the town and its’ residents seems appropriate. Our mission is to enlighten our community with an understanding of our past, to promote an objective vision of the future and to encourage historical preservation and restoration in the town of bridgewater.

Our mission is to enlighten our community with an understanding of our past, to promote an objective vision of the future and to encourage historical preservation and restoration in the town of bridgewater.
