Weird Computer Evaluation Chess Forums Chess Someone explain to me why promoting to a bishop gives a lower evaluation than promoting to a queen even though they result in the same line. at the end of the day, the queen is worth more, and if your opponent doesn't capture, you win quicker with the queen than with the wandering bishop. What really annoyed me though, was the number of people in the chat spouting computer suggestions and eval numbers, claiming a player "blundered" if they played anything other than the first best move, and thinking that a position is "won" if a player has a 1 (or 1) advantage.

Strange Computer Evaluation Number Chess Forums Chess Isn't it fascinating how the context of a player's skill level changes the computer's evaluation of a move? a move like the knight sacrifice, seemingly pointless at a glance, can be an 'excellent' strategy for beginners, showing the depth and adaptability of chess analysis. So are you saying that that punctuation all came from the computer? like "?!" to the sicilian and "?" to white 3rd move? (lol) if so, yeah, that's some seriously compromised material.
