Webinar Up Scaling Community Resilience Through Ecosystem Based Disaster Risk Reduction
Up Scaling Community Resilience Through Ecosystem Based Disaster Risk Over the last 3 years, unep in partnership with the partners for resilience (pfr) has developed and demonstrated eco drr models in 5 countries: ethiopia, uganda, haiti, india, and indonesia. This webinar is open to everyone and will highlight the following objectives: to share results and scalable features of eco drr models implemented in five countries across three continents and broader landscapes.
Upscaling Community Resilience Through Ecosystem Based Disaster Risk Over the last 3 years, unep in partnership with the partners for resilience (pfr) has developed and demonstrated eco drr models in 5 countries: ethiopia, uganda, haiti, india, and indonesia. The key risk being addressed within this context is how wetland degradation reduces community resilience against water related hazards such as floods, droughts, and storm surges. The event sought to showcase that integrating climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction with the un sustainable development goals (sdgs) by implementing nature based solutions can be highly beneficial in building resilience across societies. The success story showcases a human element demonstrating the need for large scale implementation of eco drr in advancing the implementation of the sendai framework for disaster risk reduction and the sustainable development agenda. With our technical expertise and direct field experience, we support the integration of ecosystem based disaster risk reduction (eco drr) into national and local development programmes and strategies. The project results sheet provides an overview of the implemented eco drr project along with key project results and activities in the context of indonesia. the results sheet further highlights an eco drr upscaling model for enhancing community resilience.
