Weathering Climate Risks Rmi
Weathering Climate Risks Rmi Climate risks with their long term, uncertain, and evolving nature make anticipation and proactive response to a disruption challenging. this makes resilience planning even more important. Alitative data is most effective for assessing climate related security risks. for example, when exploring the knock on effects of climate impacts, such as how increased extreme weather events impact livelihoods, social cohesion, political instability, trust in governments, and gender based violence, qualitative data is often not extensive.
Weathering Climate Risks Rmi The article introduces the weathering risk climate security risk assessment methodology, developed with significant contributions from the adelphi think tank, providing guidance and tools for assessing climate related security risks globally. Developed by the potsdam institute for climate impact research (pik) and adelphi, weathering risk combines quantitative and qualitative research to identify climate related security risks and actionable responses to avoid them. This insight brief explains how to integrate emerging climate risk assessment frameworks with utility planning processes to enable utilities to navigate a path toward a future grid supporting strong and resilient communities that can weather climate risks (section 2). What concrete actions can be taken to prevent and reduce these climate related security risks, and what capacities and resources are available or needed to implement these actions in different contexts?.

Based on two years of field testing through over twelve weathering risk assessments on the ground from the pacific to the levant, this guidance document has been adapted the original approach to make it easier, replicable and usable. The livelihoods and economies depend heavily on the ocean and climate sensitive sectors such as fisheries, tourism and agriculture. – being devasted by changing patterns – precipitation, cyclones, climate related events, & warming of the sea. In response to the berlin call to action, in june 2020, the german foreign minister announced this multi disciplinary, innovative initiative to tackle the risks that climate change poses to global peace and security. We must build to weather the storm and fight climate change too. by integrating resilience and decarbonization, we can create safe and more sustainable spaces for the future.
