The value of w3 isnt in its being the most accurate, or the most comprehensive, its that you get a broad overview of the content without being overwhelmed, in small chunks, mixed in with some examples, and some exercises. to me that works for a beginner. to me starting with mdn is a good way to scare off begineers, 100% accurate and exhaustive and gives a beginner the impression that he needs.
