Under the theme “her voice, her power, her future,” this year’s iwd campaign will highlight the importance of fostering female leadership, celebrate the achievements of women leaders, and drive momentum for greater representation at all levels of society. Understory docs believes storytelling is a powerful tool for connection and change — and nowhere is that more true than in our youth workshops. our voices, our power is a film and photography workshop designed to help students use art to explore identity, community, and social justice. The conference to be held under the theme “africa and external powers: shaping the terms of engagement,” is framed against a backdrop of renewed strategic competition, with actors such as the united states, china, russia and gulf states, including the united arab emirates, saudi arabia and qatar expanding their footprint across african economies and political systems.
