Vanuatu Equipped With Tools To Boost Resilience To Climate Changes Specifically in vanuatu, staff across nine (9) ministries led by the department of climate change (dcc) took part in the workshop this week to discuss models and analyse tools created through the project to enhance understanding of national risk and impacts from sea level rise and tropical cyclones. The nepul community climate centre is now officially open, ready to serve as a permanent resource for weather awareness, geohazard preparedness, and climate smart living. With communities facing repeated category 5 cyclones, coastal erosion and rising seas, the training equipped government, civil society, and private sector representatives with the knowledge and tools to unlock international climate finance for urgent adaptation projects. Over the course of 10 years of partnership, the world bank has supported efforts by the government of vanuatu to build the skills and institutions it needs to deal with the many volcanic eruptions and earthquakes it is prone to as well as the increasingly frequent and severe cyclones.

This project will empower some of the most climate vulnerable communities in vanuatu to meet the challenges of climate change head on, so children are protected from the worst impacts of this escalating crisis. Van kirap has continued to build local technical capacity in harnessing and managing climate data, developing and fostering the use of cis tools, and disseminating tailored climate information.
