Beyond Human Centred Design Fuse Understanding People We consider the roadway transportation system from the system of systems perspective, taking a human centred approach that integrates the behaviours of human drivers and cavs with the design and enhancement of transportation infrastructure. Transit spaces are integral to the urban experience, connecting people and places while facilitating economic and social interactions. however, their design often prioritizes efficiency over user comfort, inclusivity, and emotional engagement. To understand how to nudge people towards sustainable mobility, it is crucial to understand key behavioural science principles that affect decision making processes. This project highlights the importance of human centred design in making public transport more inclusive. by collaborating closely with disabled users, the research is helping to shape transport systems that are more accessible and welcoming for everyone.

Using the behaviour change wheel, we brought together disabled people and transport professionals in a co creation workshop to develop targeted, structured interventions. This research lays the ground for developing human centered public transportation spaces that can lead to an increase in public transportation adoption and improved user satisfaction. This project highlights how human centred design can make public transport more inclusive. by working closely with disabled users, we are helping to shape future transport systems that are more accessible and welcoming for everyone. As a design researcher with an industrial design background and professional experience in the korean automotive industry, the first author developed a core research theme to create greater awareness and acceptance of sustainable multimodal public transportation systems.
