Usf Social Work Programs Sixty one usf social work students traveled to tallahassee for legislative education and advocacy days (lead), where they presented at a training, listened in on committee meetings, and met with legislators. So i got into two different msw programs. the first is university of north carolina chapel hill (unc) and the second is university of south florida (usf). i am so conflicted as to where i should go. i want to specialize in macro social work and eventually also work towards licensure to get my lcsw.

Usf Social Work Programs Students will learn to assess and analyze macro systems, crafting impactful intervention plans, and advocating for human rights, social justice, and equity, with an emphasis on marginalized groups and communities and the organizations that serve them. The event highlighted the school’s deep community connections and featured a student panel sharing how their experiences at usf have shaped their personal and professional journeys. Unlike individual counseling or family therapy, macro social work addresses systemic problems that affect entire populations. this shift requires a distinct skill set—one that includes understanding organizational dynamics, navigating policy systems, building coalitions, and managing resources. We suggest that social work programs seek out opportunities to integrate macro practice content and field experiences into their curriculum, so that students can be better equipped to respond to the complex systemic challenges they will encounter while in professional practice.
