Electricity Consumption Culture Gender And Power Energy History This teaching unit explores cultural aspects of electrical use in the home, including the intersection of electricity with changing conceptions of femininity and the gendered nature of household labor. We consider an aspect of this by examining the effect of women in politics (percentage of seats held by women in national parliaments) on access to electricity, renewable energy consumption and energy intensity (efficiency).

Advocating for inclusive, community driven approaches, this research underscores the need for intersectional frameworks that integrate energy justice and gender empowerment, ensuring that energy transitions are not only technologically sound but also socially equitable and accessible to all.
