Untitled Fold Station Gallery Tauba auerbach has since some years been producing her ‘fold paintings’ using a complex technique. she first folds her canvas to produce the desired creases, before laying it out flat again. she then paints it with a spray gun aimed at different angles, in imitation of the angled fall of light. To create this pictorial illusion, auerbach applied paint to a folded and creased canvas. after it dried, she stretched the canvas flat, but the painted areas record the canvas’s previous three dimensionality and folds appear to remain.
