2011 Annual Report Community Based Adaptation Project Undp Climate The undp gef community based adaptation (cba) programme develops a portfolio of local scale, community driven climate change risk management projects in an effort to enhance the capacity of communities in the pilot countries to adapt to climate change including variability. With projects in over 30 countries, the programme integrates ecosystem based adaptation, climate smart agriculture, and community led resilience building to address the unique challenges facing african nations. This guidance note complements undp's crisis offer with a comprehensive approach to community based resilience building that spans disaster risk management, climate adaptation, health risk management, conflict prevention, peace building, and ecosystem management. This guidebook is a collaborative efort of the undp community based adaptation (cba) programme team at the global level, the gef small grants programme’s (sgp) central programme management team, country level project teams and external consultants.

The community based adaptation (cba) is an important component of the larger picture of management and avoidance of climate change impacts and pressures by local people. This brochure explains undp’s global partnership for community based adaptation (gpcba) in partnership with governments, civil society and philanthropic donors. the brochure also highlights several success stories, goals and aims of the initiative, and key sectors of adaptation.
