Dark Skies Family Day An Lanntair Under dark blue skies is a new audio piece commissioned by the hebridean dark skies festival. if possible we encourage you to listen to it in darkness for a fully immersive experience. Under dark blue skies is a beautiful and evocative twenty minute sound piece by shetland based musician and sound artist, renzo spiteri. it can be listened to for free on an lanntair's website from 7.30pm. The hebridean dark skies festival is an ambitious annual programme of arts and astronomy events led by an lanntair, including live music, film, visual art, theatre, astronomy talks, and stargazing, with a strong emphasis on education and outreach. our fifth programme ran from 9 21 march 2023. ‘under dark blue skies’ is an immersive and contemplative work inspired by periods of deep listening during certain times of the day. from the forewarnings of heavy rains to the still nights under clear skies, shades of dark blue often make me stop and listen to sonic events around me.

Each month there will be a group participatory art project to dive into. this is your space to meet friends, express yourself, and make something amazing together. A breathtaking matte painting depicts a fantastical and surreal winter wonderland. the scene is dominated by majestic, jagged mountains, their peaks shrouded in perpetual snow and a soft mist. a pale moon peeks through the ethereal, light blue and gold tinged clouds that blanket the sky.in the foreground, a vast canyon splits the landscape, spanned by multiple intricately designed arch bridges. Blue dominates the painting, blending hills into the sky. the little village lays at the base in the painting in browns, greys, and blues. even though each building is clearly outlined in black, the yellow and white of the stars and the moon stand out against the sky, drawing the eyes to the sky. they are the big attention grabber of the painting. As if to cement it, on 13 april, another of scotland's art galleries – an lanntair in stornoway opens its real world doors to the public, the farther isles showing those of us on the.
