Ucsd Cosmology This is the home of the ucsd cosmology research group. we currently do research on the cosmic microwave background (cmb) and the near infrared background (nirb). He works on observations of the cosmic microwave background, leading the polarbear 2 and simons array experiments. he also conceived the first bicep experiment. he received his phd in 2000, and is a distinguished professor of physics at university of california, san diego, since 2019.

I am an astronomer, cosmologist, and data scientist, currently a nsf & nasa funded assistant research scientist at the uc san diego center for astrophysics & space sciences (cass) and a research affiliate in the mit sts program. The history of astrophysics and cosmology is that insights are gained through a variety of modalities working together: observation, theory, and laboratory experiment. this seminar series is dedicated to that spirit of cooperative discovery. This course covers galaxies and cosmology. topics include the milky way galaxy, star formation and the interstellar medium, galaxies, galaxy evolution, black holes, quasars, dark matter, the expansion of the universe, large scale structure, cosmology, the early universe, and the big bang. Uc san diego is home to the experimental cosmology laboratory, optical infrared laboratory, high energy astrophysics laboratory, and solar physics space weather laboratory, as well as a long heritage of instrumentation programs from the 40 years of the center for astrophysics & space sciences.
