Towards A Digital Twin Of The European Energy Infrastructure The The twineu project stands as a pioneering initiative within the horizon europe framework, aiming to reshape the european energy landscape through the digitalization of the energy system. The eu funded twineu project aims to develop new technologies and establish the necessary conditions for interoperability. it aims to create a european data exchange core supported by interfaces to the energy data space currently in development.

Twineu Twineu will address these challenges by defining a set of scenarios for the use of digital twin that will benefit from data sharing and exchange among operators (intra and cross country) and the corresponding requirements for implementation. By creating the concept of a digital twin of the european electricity system, the twineu project aims at developing innovative tools and models which will enable a reliable, resilient, and safe operation of the infrastructure while facilitating the deployment of renewable energy sources. This is the reason for the creation of twineu, a horizon europe innovation action project with a duration of 36 months, launched in january 2024. the project brings together a unique consortium with the participation of 76 partners from 15 countries. One of the largest consortiums to date within the horizon europe framework – with 75 partners – has launched: twineu project kicked off on 15 16 january 2024 to create a concept of the pan eu digital twin of the electricity system.
