Triple J Unearthed High Songmakers Unearthed high is returning in the first half of 2026 and we've built a unit of work for high school music teachers to integrate it into their school programming. The network continues to host initiatives to progress independent artists in the industry, including unearthed high, an annual award given to high school musicians to have their work recorded professionally.
Triple J Unearthed High Songmakers As unearthed high 2025 kicks off, triple j will also be unveiling a new show, called unearthed high fidelity, set to take place on thursdays from 3:30 pm aest. the show will be hosted by meanjin brisbane based queer indie pop rock artist and 2023 unearthed high finalist, ixaras. Triple j unearthed has announced the five finalists for its 2025 unearthed high competition, spotlighting some of australia’s most promising high school aged musicians. the finalists were chosen from over 1,300 entries submitted nationwide. Triple j unearthed reveals five finalists for its 2025 unearthed high competition, spotlighting australia’s top young musical talent. these artists were selected from more than 1,300 entries submitted from high school musicians nationwide. The unearthed competition was inspired by the success of a talent search on sbs program nomad called "pick me". this segment, co produced by triple j, discovered a trio from newcastle called the "innocent criminals", who later gained international fame under the name silverchair.
