Two days out, you go to open the weather channel app to check the forecast, and suddenly, you're not just sweating from the heat. the radar won’t load or is missing entirely.
The Weather Channel S Big 5 0 App Redesign Is Now Very Slowly Rolling Most app updates roll out to the majority of users either all at once or within a matter of days, but like a tropical storm, the weather channel has decided to take its time with its big. A key feature of the weather channel app disappeared from people’s phones at the end of may 2025, leaving a lot of folks scrambling for answers. the radar feature, and some other tools for certain users, were suddenly gone, with no warning at all. The redesign of the weather channel app (twc app) occured in spring quarter of 2025 at uw in the design storytelling class. me and one other person worked primarily on figma to make twc app a better experience for users by reorganizing and redesigning the original app. Using a combination of color accents, insights, storm data and radar map imagery these elements come together to purposefully inform users on what severe weather they can expect, when and how to prepare for it. overall the new app is an incredible update to an already beloved and trusted experience.
