The New Transition Year Programme Statement Oide As part of the broader redevelopment of senior cycle it is envisaged that a new transition year (ty) programme statement will be introduced in early 2024. a ty development group has been convened and will play a key role in developing the new statement. Transition year will remain as a standalone programme in senior cycle. the revised transition year programme statement has been submitted to the minister for consideration and approval, pending its introduction to schools in 2024. Suitability and access to transition year •all students are eligible to do ty. your choice should be made on: •your willingness to participate in all aspects of ty. •willingness to spend an extra year in school and complete projects. •committing to having a good attendance record. Transition year is a one year programme designed to act as a bridge between junior & senior cycle. opportunity to grow, develop new skills, make new friends, experience the working world & mature. three four separate weeks: november january and two weeks in may.
