The morris lab is a stem cell and developmental biology laboratory based in the divisions of gi and genetics at brigham and women’s hospital and harvard medical school, usa. In particular, we seek to define genes that regulate the process of ocular morphogenesis (the formation of the eye during embryonic development) and that promote the differentiation of retinal photoreceptors, the light capturing neurons that initiate the visual signal. We use human cell models and crispr based approaches for perturbing gwas loci to examine their impact on gene expression, gene regulatory networks, and proteins. in doing so, we can identify target genes and learn about their functions in disease relevant cell models. The morris lab uses machine learning and ai to do biomedical research, focusing on cancer evolution, gene regulation, clinical informatics, and gene functions. We are an undergraduate research lab focused primarily on plant conservation genetics. we have a number of ongoing projects across the southeastern us.
