International Eba Community Of Practice Adaptation Community Eba measures strengthen the resilience of human society and ecosystems as they face up to current and future changes in climate. this focus on adaptability means that eba differs from the conventional approaches taken to the management of natural resources and biodiversity. The international eba community of practice (cop) founded and chaired by the global project mainstreaming eba friends of eba (feba) partnership for environment and disaster risk reduction (pedrr). Ecosystem based adaptation (eba) integrates the use of biodiversity and ecosystem services into an overall strategy to help people adapt to the adverse impacts of climate change. It presents entry points for mainstreaming eba throughout the four elements of the national adaptation plans (nap) formulation process, as defined by the united nations framework convention on climate change (unfccc) least developed countries group (leg, 2012).

The International Eba Community Of Practice Factsheet Adaptation Ecosystem based adaptation (eba) integrates the use of biodiversity and ecosystem services into an overall strategy to help people adapt to the adverse impacts of climate change. It presents entry points for mainstreaming eba throughout the four elements of the national adaptation plans (nap) formulation process, as defined by the united nations framework convention on climate change (unfccc) least developed countries group (leg, 2012). The outcome of this commitment is countries having improved integration of climate change responses into national development processes by incorporating ecosystem based approaches to adaptation. Similarly, national and sectoral policies and adaptation plans adopting ecosystem approaches may guide municipalities and communities to consider ecosystem functions and “adaptation services” as part of their own development and adaptation planning. The factsheet is developed by the project eu strategy on adaptation to climate change: knowledge assessments to support informed decision making (clima.c.3 ser 340202 2015 719923) carried out for the european commission by ecofys, ukcip and sruc. First of all, it is important to understand the three key elements of eba, based on its definition: i) it helps people adapt to climate change, ii) through the use of biodiversity and ecosystem services, iii) in the context of a broader adaptation strategy.
