Contact Literacy Counts While over half the world now uses the internet, a staggering digital divide leaves billions excluded, as 1 in 2 people globally still struggle with low digital literacy, hindering their access to jobs, information, and modern life. In this study designed qualitatively, the opinions of 25 students from the department of computer education and instructional technologies about the term ‘technological literacy’ are collected. Utilizing a nationally representative survey, we analyze (1) online course enrollment and (2) online learning engagement (self learning and communication based learning activities) and their relationship with being employed. Technological literacy is not just about being able to use computers or other electronic devices, but also encompasses a broader knowledge of the impact that technology can have on society.
