Home Cmu Robotics Technights (creative technology nights) aims to expand diversity of interest in computing among middle school students. technights hosts interactive workshops on a variety of computer science topics taught by members of the carnegie mellon community. The on campus workshops cover such topics as robotics, algorithms, programming, game design, machine learning and more. a graduate leader oversees the workshops and assists other cmu students, who develop individual sessions. student volunteers help, which allows for one on one guidance.

Home Cmu Robotics In this edition of technights, cherie, pragna and paloma break down the basics of how robots work. to learn more about technights, visit our website: cmu.edu scs technights. The robotics institute offers doctoral and master's degrees in robotics, industrial automation and computer vision utilizing advanced artificial intelligence. Technights (creative technology nights for girls) is a program focused on exposing middle and high school girls to creative technologies. using computer animation, web design, programming, robotics, and interactive medias, we hope to engage a future generation of women in technology. The carnegie mellon robotic academy team is located within the national robotics engineering center (nrec), where robots for business, government, and industry are designed, prototyped, and tested just outside our office doors.

This resource includes visual demos and written explanations of robotics concepts from the educational video series, the robot doctor. specifically, it covers robot localization, vision, motion, and measurement, four out of the eight lessons in the video series. This video focuses on robot design elements: locomotion, end effectors, appearance and how they relate to a robot’s purpose. this handout covers a lesson review and questions that encourage students to think about what kind of design decisions would need to be made for a particular robot task. Interactive videos on a variety of computer science topics taught by members of the carnegie mellon community.
