Applied Sciences Special Issue Underwater Acoustic Communications This dissertation studies the synchronization techniques, including the symbol timing and carrier frequency recovery for coherent wireless receivers. the application is focused on the underwater acoustic communications, where time varying multipath fading dominates the channel characteristics. Therefore, this paper proposes a robust time frequency synchronization method for ofdm systems. first, a new preamble based on constant amplitude zero autocorrelation (cazac) sequence is designed, and a new signal timing offset estimation method is developed based on the time domain characteristics of the preamble. Therefore, this paper focuses on the synchronization technology for underwater acoustic mobile communication. in view of the serious influence of doppler on underwater acoustic communication synchronization technology, doppler factor block estimation methods of various preamble signals are analyzed. In this review, we discuss existing efforts in modelling underwater acoustic propagation channels, processing communication signals and establishing networks.
