This fall, southern regional technical college is opening a state of the art ai manufacturing lab with nearly $500,000 in support from georgia aim. During the meeting, srtc announced the creation of a new precision machining and manufacturing lab on its thomasville campus with an anticipated opening in the fall of 2024. the lab will host two new programs, including precision machining & manufacturing and manufacturing engineering technology. The labs support srtc’s two newest academic programs: manufacturing engineering technology and precision machining and manufacturing, both of which launched this summer as part of a statewide initiative led by georgia artificial intelligence in manufacturing (georgia aim). In the 2024 academic year, srtc saw strong enrollment numbers in several of its high demand programs. the commercial truck driving (cdl) program attracted 234 students, while the welding program had an even larger enrollment of 435 students.
