I have noticed that if one tries to 'reverse label' on an alignment curve label, the chord bearing does not reverse. The issue is that there is a scaled up version of the alignment that is glued to a certain place relative to the viewport. there are also 2 view cubes for some reason. When you add an alignment sub element to an existing alignment, the sub element direction is determined by the direction in which it was drawn. if the sub element direction is different from the alignment, the sub element cannot become part of the solved alignment geometry.
