The field of artificial intelligence (ai) is witnessing a recent upsurge in research, tools development, and deployment of applications. multiple software companies are shifting their focus to developing intelligent systems; and many others are deploying ai paradigms to their existing processes. This is the paradox of artificial intelligence: after pushing people toward extreme specialization, today we’re designing algorithms that can do everything. after locking individuals into increasingly rigid roles, we aspire to create machines that are flexible, curious, and versatile. In our 2025 state of ai in software engineering report, we explored how widespread ai adoption is accelerating code delivery in software engineering, but also creating new bottlenecks in testing, security, and deployment, creating the ai velocity paradox. In the following sections, we’ll delve into existing literature on the ai paradox, examine related work, and offer insights on addressing ai driven challenges. by mapping the ai paradox and its effects, we aim to deepen our understanding of how technology impacts society. In this paper, we propose a forward looking vision for ai driven sa along with a corresponding roadmap. to build this vision, we first analyse the current application of ai in sa through a systematic review, which reveals 14 state of the art practices and applications in architectural tasks.
