Smalltalk Parenting Research Centre
Parenting Research Centre Github We developed, tested and rolled out smalltalk across victoria. following its success in victoria, it is now available across australia and internationally. working in collaboration with practitioners and parents, our team has designed a highly accepted, appealing and effective program. Smalltalk is a set of evidence based strategies that parents can use to enhance the home learning environment for children from birth up to 4 years old.
Parenting Research Centre Findings indicated that compared to participants in the standard playgroup, smalltalk participants showed significantly greater improvements in parent child interactions and the home learning environment, particularly where they also received the home visiting component (smalltalk plus). The program is targeted at parents with children aged from birth up to school age who may benefit from extra ideas about how to use everyday opportunities and activities to enhance their child's early literacy and learning in the home. The parenting research centre developed smalltalk in 2009 in response to the victorian government’s request to undertake a large scale effectiveness study into enriching the home learning environment. Designed and developed by the parenting research centre way back in 2009, smalltalk is a 10 week program for parents of children aged 0 4 years.
