Sketching Observing Program Astronomical League We hope this observing program will help you gain a greater appreciation for sketching astronomical objects and enhance your skills in recording observations. historically astronomers employed sketches to record their observations and ground breaking discoveries. Recording what you see at the eyepiece enhances your observing experience, simply because the more you concentrate your attention on a celestial feature, the more details you will see.
Sketching Observing Program Astronomical League Many programs require sketches and descriptions. some examples of programs that would use this log sheet are: double star observing program, globular cluster observing program and the open cluster observing program. this log sheet can be easily adapted as required. To earn this award, the imager must complete ten observing programs through imaging. these must include: a lunar program, a solar program, and a solar system (main bodies) program, a deep space program, and. In case you missed it, the astronomical league recently added an observing program dedicated to sketching. the haleakala amateur astronomers of maui, hawaii, created a target list to help. The logbook requires sketches or drawings and it is my intention as i increase my own lunar knowledge and sketching to do this program and sketch each part of it. not sure how long it will take me but i am fine if, like most programs, it results in a multiple year project.
