Simons Observatory Site
The Simons Observatory Searching For Our Cosmic Origins The simons observatory is a powerful new experimental cosmology facility comprising a set of millimeter wavelength telescopes located at high altitude in the atacama desert of northern chile, roughly one hour from the town of san pedro de atacama. The simons observatory is located in the high atacama desert in northern chile inside the chajnator science preserve, at an altitude of 5,200 meters (17,000 ft).
The Simons Observatory Searching For Our Cosmic Origins Simons observatory the simons observatory, a suite of telescopes that will examine the light left over from the big bang, sits atop the high desert of northern chile. The simons observatory telescopes are located at an elevation of 17,000 feet in the atacama desert in northern chile one of the best microwave observing sites in the world. As of 2021, so is under construction in the atacama desert in chile (fig. 2), and will be able to capture its first light during 2022. the nominal duration of the project is 5 years. the activities of so members at apc are focused on data analysis. we are involved in almost all steps of the analysis presented in fig. 3. The simons observatory, located high in the chilean andes, has completed the large aperture telescope (lat), which joins the three small aperture telescopes (sat) on site.

The simons observatory (so) is a new generation cosmic microwave background (cmb) observatory being built in the atacama desert in chile. The simons observatory will be located in the high atacama desert in northern chile inside the chajnantor science preserve. at 5,200 meters (17,000 ft) the site hosts some of the highest telescopes in the world. The simons observatory (so) is a new cosmic microwave background experiment being built on cerro toco in chile, due to begin observations in the early 2020s. we describe the scienti c goals of the experiment, motivate the design, and forecast its performance. The simons observatory consists of a suite of large and small aperture telescopes developed and deployed across a high altitude site near the summit of cerro toco in northern chile’s atacama desert.
