Brainscan is a campaign of five linked adventures that drop the characters squarely into the middle of a titanic struggle for identity, control and freedom. brainscan is a gamemasters and players of all experience levels. I started a shadowrun campaign (using hero rules and a tweaked setting) that i handed off to one my players to gm for the most part. but i still get to run things once in a while and picked these up as something that i've always be interested in. Pretty much all of the things you might expect from a crpg are there, but the shadowrun trilogy keeps the complexity to a minimum and that feels surprisingly refreshing to have such a gentle learning curve for a change. Has anyone out there played or ran brainscan? can anyone give me any advice, any tips on running that campaign or any idea at all? thanks! i ran it very slowly, taking over a year to build up to the climax. my favorite part? i replaced the otaku who betrays the team at the end with a semi npc. Shadowrun itself inspires more of these stories, but it could certainly use a hard system reset. i've gotten back into rpgs after a long hiatus, and running an sr campaign is on my to do list, but i don't think i want to intro modern players to that mess of a system.
