(we had a disco returning after getting swamped over driver's seat level last week, rescued after 3 hours in the water). Routes open to you will really depend on water levels, so ask your 4x4 rental company what they know of open routes and if there are water crossing detours, and ask again at the game reserve gate. There are 2 routes; the quicker route via mababe or the slightly longer route through the moremi reserve. leaving maun airport, take the airport road and then turn left onto sir seretse khama rd. keep heading north through town where the road curves east and crosses the thamalakane river.
