Science For Disaster Risk Reduction
Concept Of Disaster Risk Reduction Drr And Disaster Risk Reduction Incorporating science and technology into disaster mitigation, response, and recovery can reduce losses, speed up needed assistance, and enhance long term resilience. This report discusses the role of science and technology in disaster risk reduction (drr) and management and provides commitments on behalf of the science and technology communities to assist with the implementation of the post 2015 framework for disaster risk reduction.
Financing For Disaster Risk Reduction And Risk Informed Approaches To It is hoped that the successes described here will encourage the collaboration of all stakeholders in disaster risk reduction, including representatives of governmental institutions, scientific and technical specialists and members of the communities at risk, to find better ways to integrate science into disaster risk reduction activities. However, needs for science and technology inputs are unmet, and there is a lack of policy making that is based on science and evidence. this paper identified three key issues that could help overcome these barriers: networking, coproduction of knowledge, and a stronger role played by academia. Irdr’s mission is to mobilize science for the reduction of all types of disaster risk; building resilience and reducing vulnerability by integrating risk science with climate change adaptation and mitigation and sustainable development. Based on these elements, we discuss the frontiers in disaster risk science research.

Develop guidelines for strengthening national and local platforms for disaster risk reduction and their coordination mechanisms through enhanced contributions from science and technology with due consideration of traditional knowledge systems. Science, technology and innovation (sti) play a major role in disaster risk reduction. unesco works to apply sti and the best available knowledge to develop conventional and innovative solutions for effective preparedness and response. Science and technology have transformed disaster risk reduction from reactive crisis management into proactive, data driven prevention. This report is based on a comprehensive review and qualitative survey, which examine the application of science and technology to disaster risk reduction in the asia pacific region.
