Rising Communities Rising Communities The south la decides – participatory grantmaking initiative (slad pgmi), led by rising communities (formerly community health councils) in partnership with first 5 la, empowers south los angeles residents and grassroots leaders to drive local change through community led funding. Established in 1992, our mission is to promote social justice and achieve equity in community and environmental resources to improve the health and well being of underserved populations.

This organization in los angeles county is dedicated to health advocacy and does not provide direct public services. their services include community action and social advocacy groups, community organizing assistance, planning, coordination, advisory groups, research, and system advocacy. Since 2009, communities rising has provided quality educational opportunities for children from marginalized communities in rural south india through several programs: accelerated learning program provides instruction in english, math, and computers for over 1100 students in 9 schools. Communities rise fosters movements to build power in communities impacted by systemic oppression. to create an equitable system, we pursue cross sector collaboration, and provide capacity building and legal services for community organizations and microenterprises.
