Review Pixels 2015 Reel Good Pixels had a great idea, but the dialogue was not good at all, the acting was awful, and the characters had zero chemistry. overall pixels is a complete waste of time, money and effort. Film review: ‘pixels’ adam sandler presses a lot of buttons but mostly phones it in with this dim witted '80s nostalgia trip. Pixels is built on that appeal as earth is attacked by the creatures of retro era arcade games. the moviemakers have fun with this and come up with some amusing action sequences set to a soundtrack of 1980s pop songs. Viewers of a certain age may look at “pixels” with a degree of nostalgia, although it stands to reason that if you are old enough to feel nostalgic about playing “donkey kong” in the arcade, you are probably too old for an adam sandler film.

Pixels has a few inspired action sequences and a handful of laugh out loud moments, but overall the special effects are surprisingly average — and the lazy acting by adam sandler, the shameless mugging by kevin james and the hammy performance by brian cox don’t help. Familiar plotting and lazy comedy aside, pixels at least gets some props for its heavy 80s video game nostalgia. with the same comedic band of misfits rejoining another adam sander film and a distinct lack of rhythm and fun, pixels is as hollow and lifeless as pacman’s pixelated eyes. Paying to see this in 3 d is just throwing good money after bad. the film's so called "action" scenes, which feature sandler and co stars james, peter dinklage, michelle monaghan, and josh gad using big guns to zap the invaders, are contrived to the point that it's impossible to become engaged. With all of the interest lately in retro gaming, i thought it was time to revisit the 2015 film pixels. i did my best to forget any feelings i had for the film when it first came out, and i hoped to take a look at it from the point of view of a retro gamer.
