The Authorship Project Below are several resources available to nih staff to promote research integrity of authorship and publications, some of which are internal irp resources and some of which are external resources. This guide, developed in collaboration with dr. alice young and dr. casside street, brings together a wide range of resources to support researchers, students, and faculty in navigating the multifaceted landscape of academic authorship. Credit is a community owned taxonomy of 14 contributor roles designed to represent the key types of contributions typically made to research outputs, including journal articles. Credit offers authors the opportunity to share an accurate and detailed description of their diverse contributions to the published work. credit statements should be provided during the submission process and will appear above the acknowledgment section of the published paper as shown further below.
Resources The Authorship Project Credit is a community owned taxonomy of 14 contributor roles designed to represent the key types of contributions typically made to research outputs, including journal articles. Credit offers authors the opportunity to share an accurate and detailed description of their diverse contributions to the published work. credit statements should be provided during the submission process and will appear above the acknowledgment section of the published paper as shown further below. All members of the group named as authors should meet all four criteria for authorship, including approval of the final manuscript, and they should be able to take public responsibility for the work and should have full confidence in the accuracy and integrity of the work of other group authors. Authorship provides credit for an individual’s contributions to a study and carries accountability. there are no universally accepted standards for assigning authorship, and principles, customs and practices differ significantly from one discipline to another. Describe at what project stages this agreement will be discussed again (e.g., at midpoint of data collection, after an initial draft is written, prior to first submission, after any revisions to a manuscript under review at a journal).
