In this paper, we propose a flexible multisystemic resilience model entitled the arcch model of resilience. arcch stands for attachment, regulation, competence, culture, and health. One in ten children leaving foster care in the united states is discharged to “emancipation”, having never achieved permanency. the ultimate goal of arc is not to reduce pathology, but to support healthy, resilient development for children, families, and communities. By addressing the core areas of attachment, regulation, and competency, the arc framework helps individuals build the foundation for a resilient and fulfilling life. Preliminary findings contribute to an emerging empirical basis for the arc model and are supportive of its clinical utility as a practice with adopted children.
