The reopt ® web tool allows users to: evaluate the economic viability of hybrid distributed energy resources (ders) for grid tied and off grid buildings, campuses, and microgrids. optimize der system mix, sizing, and dispatch strategies to achieve energy cost savings and resilience goals. Under development at nlr since 2007, the reopt platform was initially created to identify and prioritize cost effective renewable energy projects across a portfolio of sites. Time warner cable partnered with nlr to perform a reopt analysis at 696 of its u.s. facilities. nlr used reopt to review the savings potential and design of the battery energy storage system, which reduces peak electric demand and improves the resilience of fort carson's grid.
