Public Space Transformation Live Projects Network The ringue space intervention is a community effort wishing to bring back some life in an otherwise bare rectangular space surrounded by a social housing block built in the 90’s. the renovation project has taken place for over a year, endorsing a slow approach centred around community engagement. Through hands on learning and real world application, participants explore placemaking strategies, design, and implementation alongside our team. each workshop empowers communities to take action and create lasting change in their own spaces.

Urban underground spaces, as valuable resources and efficient and effective tools for urban renewal, should be considered by decision makers for transforming existing urban areas, stimulating vibrant and denser development and mixed land use. Through regional public space and placemaking networks, un habitat will further engage with and support communities to take action towards reclaiming and transforming public spaces. Rooted in creativity, collaboration, and shared responsibility, the project empowers youth to lead initiatives that transform neglected public spaces, foster social connection, and inspire civic pride. Established in 2007, the initiative achieves its mission through a multifaceted program of work that leverages uli’s extensive public and private networks and includes research and education, publications, and convenings.
