This study evaluated a cohort of young children who were tested for fentanyl because there was concern for illicit fentanyl use in the home, regardless of the child’s symptoms. This retrospective study presents the clinical course and management of 4 cases, empha sizing the urgent need for prompt recognition and intervention to address the severe, extended effects of illicit fentanyl exposure in very young children. Using data from an online assessment of youth in the united states, this study examined factors associated with youth's indirect exposure to fentanyl; factors related to youth's level of knowledge of fentanyl; and sources of substance use information obtained by youth.
